On the new official site for the franchise based on the manga written and illustrated by Kentaro Miura, Berserk, it was announced that a special exhibition will be held at the Sunshine City complex in Tokyo between January 30 and February 15, 2021.
The exhibition will be held to commemorate the thirtieth anniversary of the start of the manga's serialization, and is the "important announcement" that the franchise had prepared since mid-September with the slogan "The New Beginning (The new beginning)."
For his part, Miura began publishing the manga in 1989 in Hakusensha publishing house's Monthly Animal House magazine, and later moving it to Young Animal magazine in 1992. The publishing house published the fortieth compilation volume in September 2018.
The play inspired a 25-episode anime adaptation released in October 1997 and produced by OLM Studios, as well as a trilogy of films titled Berserk: Ougon Jidai-hen released in February 2012, June 2012, and February 2013. Subsequently, the series was again adapted to anime by GEMBA studios and released in July 2016, with 24 episodes.
The story follows Guts, a superhumanly strong warrior wielding a great sword, as he wanders a dark medieval world filled with demons, corrupt and decadent nobles, and other horrors. Every night, he is assaulted by demons, drawn by the curse that was placed on him due to a traumatic event in the past. This is how Guts will make his way through the world in a quest to murder an old friend who turned into a demon. , and that took everything away.
