A renowned Japanese leaker confirmed that the multimedia franchise based on the manga written and illustrated by Gosho Aoyama, Detective Conan, will reveal an "important and secret project" as part of the commemoration of its 25th anniversary. The announcement will follow the broadcast of the thousandth episode of the animated adaptation, which is scheduled in Japan for March 6, 2021.
For his part, Aoyama has published the manga in Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine since January 1994, with a total of 98 compilation volumes published to date. In addition to a host of movies and OVAs, the play is inspiring an anime adaptation produced by TMS Entertainment studios, which has been on air since January 1996 and has more than 980 episodes to date.
Detective Conan Synopsis
The manga series centers on Conan Edogawa, the alias of Detective Shinichi Kudo, whose body shrunk after being poisoned early in the story. Along with Detective Kogoro Mori and his daughter Ran, Conan helps the police solve difficult mysteries. The Detective Conan manga has been published since 1994 and in August became the first Weekly Shonen Sunday series to publish its 1,000th chapter. The manga has inspired an ongoing anime series, and an annual anime film series. The 22nd film in the franchise, Meitantei Conan Zero no Shikkōnin (Detective Conan: Zero's Executioner), opened in Japan on April 13 and became the highest grossing film in franchise history. Aoyama's various manga series have a total of 200 million copies in print worldwide.
