Bandai Namco Entertainment announced through its official media that the launch of the Digimon Survive video game has been delayed until 2021 "due to effects derived from the current world situation." The game's producer, Kazumasa Habu, signaled his appreciation to fans for their patience.
The game had already been delayed and was scheduled to be released this year. Originally, its release was scheduled for 2019 on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC consoles in the West.
The game's conversation sequences will feature anime-style art and 2D illustrations. The development of the story and the evolutions in battle will depend entirely on the path the player chooses. On the other hand, in the exploration sections of the game, the keys to the story are scattered throughout the world available to explore, and players must explore different points of interest.
The development of this video game was announced since December 2017 during an interview with Kazumasa Habu, who revealed at that time that there was a game in development for the PlayStation 4 console. The most recent game in the franchise, titled Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth - Hacker's Memory, was released in Japan in December 2017 and in the West in January 2018.
