An official statement reported that the manga written and illustrated by Sumito Oowara, Eizouken ni wa Te wo Dasu na! (also known as Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!) has exceeded one million cumulative circulating copies in the five compilation volumes published to date.
Owara began publishing the manga in Shogakukan publisher's Monthly Big Comic Spirits magazine in July 2016, and the publisher published the fifth compiled volume on January 30.
The play inspired a twelve-episode anime adaptation produced by Science SARU studios, under the direction of Masaaki Yuasa and scripts written by himself in conjunction with Yuuichirou Kido, released in January 2020. Additionally, a live-action film was released in theaters in Japan on September 25, after being postponed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Synopsis of Eizouken ni wa Te wo Dasu na!
The story follows Midori, Tsubame, and Sayaka, an energetic trio of first-year high school girls who meet at the Eizo-ken (Video Research Club) to turn their anime dreams into reality. Midori is nervous about creating an anime on her own. She meets Tsubame, who appears to be a well-to-do girl, but really has a dream: to be a cheerleader. Sayaka, Midori's best friend, has a great sense of finances to carry out the project and joins the other two girls in search of their dreams.
