On the Japanese server of the popular battle royale game developed by NetEase, Knives Out, it was announced that a collaboration with the Neon Genesis Evangelion franchise will take place between August 20 and September 3, 2020.
This is the third time the game has collaborated with the iconic franchise, the first in May 2019 and January 2020. Character and vehicle skins inspired by EVA Units will be added exclusively during this collaboration.
The original series premiered in Japan in October 1995, with 26 episodes written and directed by Hideaki Anno at Gainax Studios in collaboration with Tatsunoko Production. On the other hand, the film Evangelion: 3.0 + 1.0: Thrice Upon a Time, the last of the tetralogy of the new Evangelion project, was scheduled to be released on June 27 in Japan. However, due to the health situation the country is going through caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the decision was made to delay it indefinitely. The new release date will be announced as soon as it is decided.
Additionally, Netflix acquired the distribution license for the original series and the films of the franchise, with the exception of the Rebuild project. The first three films in the project were released in 2007, 2009 and 2012, respectively.
