Okada bought enough gas before the incident, and the Tokushima Prefecture Police Department continues to carry out the relevant investigations to discover its reasons to imitate the cinder attack on Kyoto Animation studies in July 2019, which snatched the lives of 36 people.

The suspect, Okada, was arrested on March 24 for watering gasoline within the facilities and set fire on the elevator corridor on the third floor of the four-story building, at around 1:00 p.m. on March 14. A man of about fifty years suffered slight injuries by smoke inhalation, while the Idol group of five members made a live presentation in a room space of the building. However, the rest of the audience of around seventy people successfully escaped the facilities.

According to the police research, Okada had acquired around fourteen liters of gasoline at a service station within the Tokushima Prefecture a few hours before the incident. A metallic container was abandoned in the scene, and Okada admitted the facts during interrogations by pointing out the incident at Kyoto Animation studios as inspiration.
