Jun Maeda Returns And Will Publish A New Novel In March
Kodansha publisher has listed that it will publish a new light novel written by Jun Maeda and titled Neko Kari Zoku no Naga (The Chief of the Cat Hunting Tribe) on March 23 in Japan. While this clears any doubt that the renowned writer and composer has died (as some media already claimed), his Twitter account (@jun_owakon) remains inactive. Regarding his new novel, the publisher has only revealed the title so far.
On the other hand, Jun Maeda collaborated for the first time with the P.A. Works in the production of the multimedia project Angel Beats! in 2010, followed by the original anime Charlotte in 2015. Maeda is recognized for being the writer of the visual novels developed by Visual Art’s / Key, Kanon, AIR, Clannad, and Little Busters !, all of which have inspired anime adaptations. Maeda has also composed the soundtrack for all the visual novels he has written, as well as the themes for the Angel Beats! Series. and Charlotte.
Maeda was recently credited with producing the original anime produced by Key, Aniplex, and P.A. Works, Kamisama ni Natta Hi (The Day I Became a God), which aired in the Fall 2020 season. This production was severely criticized by some fans both inside and outside Japan, which some suppose is the cause for the who deactivated his social networks.
Finally, it should be noted that Jun Maeda suffers from idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy (enlargement and weakening of the left ventricle of the heart). He was hospitalized for five months in 2016 and later that year he revealed that his heart condition requires a heart transplant, though he later assured fans that he still has a lot to live and stories to write.
