Kadokawa acquires the American publisher J-Novel Club

The Kadokawa Corporation company announced that it has acquired the editorial of Light Novels and Sleeves based in the United States, J-Novel Club. The Kadokawa publisher at the end to strengthen its Electronic Book Division and promote a greater expansion of its light novels business in the Anglo-Saxon market through this acquisition.

The company plans to implement the "Digital First" strategy, launching more new titles first digitally while complementing and contributing to Yen Press, another editorial based in the United States, which Kadokawa also has together with Hachette Book Group.

It should be noted that Kadokawa reorganized its corporate structure last October. The company replaced its six previous departments with thirteen different groups, each of which has a "executive director" that carries the title of its respective group. Kadokawa pointed out that the restructuring would allow the company to achieve a more flat and horizontal corporate structure.

Earlier this year, Kadokawa formed a capital alliance with Cyberagent, Inc. and Sony to strengthen their business and animation business. The company's objectives are to strengthen the Global Media Mix Strategy to expand the intellectual properties of Kadokawa around the world and cooperate with Cyberagent and Sony for "the mutual exploitation of business, experience and other strengths of each one."
