
In the eighth issue of 2021 of Kodansha publisher's Weekly Shonen Magazine it was announced that the manga written and illustrated by Keigo Maki, Kawaii dake ja Nai Shikimori-san (Shikimori's Not Just a Cutie), has surpassed 1.6 million copies in circulation. The manga also released a special illustration to commemorate its previously announced anime adaptation.


Maki began publishing this manga through his Twitter account under the title Kawaii dake ja Nai Onnanoko, and subsequently began publishing it through Kodansha publisher's Magazine Pocket service in February 2019. The publisher published the seventh compilation volume. on January 8 in Japan.
An anime adaptation produced by Doga Kobo Studios was confirmed earlier this month, without revealing further production details or an estimated release date. More details will be revealed shortly by the production team.
