A recent leak announced the registration of the web domain (https://shikkakumon.com/), which could indicate the production of a project based on the light novels written by Shotou Shinkou and illustrated by Huuka Kazabana, Shikkakumon no Saikyou Kenja: Sekai Saikyou no Kenja ga Sarani Tsuyokunaru Tame ni Tensei Shimashita (The Strongest Sage of Disqualified Crest). Several assume that it could be an anime adaptation, however, an official confirmation on this has not yet been issued.

Shoutou Shinkou began publishing the light novels through SB Creative publisher in December 2016 with illustrations by Huuka Kazabana. The publisher published the twelfth volume on May 14 in Japan. A manga adaptation by Kansho and Hyoko is published on the Manga Up! from Square Enix publisher since May 2017. The publisher released the 13th compiled volume on December 11 in Japan.
