Through his Official Twitter account, the renowned Takahiro Komori animator shared a special illustration pointing out that on April 1, 2021 marks the twentieth anniversary of the Anime Kidou Tenshi Angelic Layer (Battle Doll Angelic Layer). "On April 1, 2001 was the first day of the transmission of Kidou Tenshi Angelic Layer, 20 years ago," he wrote.
The series is based on a written sleeve and illustrated by the CLAMP CREATIVE GROUP, which was published through the Monthly Shonen Ace magazine from the Kadokawa publisher between July 1999 and October 2001, with a total of five published collector volumes.
The animated adaptation of 26 episodes was produced by the BONES studies, under the direction of Hiroshi Nishikiori and scripts written by Ichirou Ookouchi, originally released in April 2001 in Japan.
