The successes continue for Bocchi the Rock!

As we had previously reported, this week the first compilation film of the "Bocchi the Rock!" franchise was finally released in theaters in Japan. An account specialized in tracking box office receipts for the different releases in Japan, confirmed that this film accumulated 75 million yen on its first day alone.

This figure surpasses the movie "Love Live! Nijigasaki School Idol Club," which grossed 57.46 million yen, and "Trapezium," the film based on the bestselling novel by talent Kazumi Takayama and produced by CloverWorks studios, which grossed 56.21 million yen.

In fact, the result is mentioned as an unprecedented figure for a compilation film, and symbolizes the relentless popularity of the "Bocchi the Rock!" franchise.

A special video was also revealed showing the main theme song of the film, titled "Tsukinami no Kagayake!" and performed by the Kessoku Band, the lead band.

Speaking of the Kessoku Band, it turns out that Ikumi Hasegawa showed up on the popular channel THE FIRST TAKE, where artists perform songs with little accompaniment, to perform the song "Guitar to Kodoku to Aoihoshi".

The anime adaptation aired during the Fall-2022 season (October-December) and had a total of twelve episodes, while the Crunchyroll platform is in charge of its distribution in the West. Aki Hamaji began publishing the manga through Houbunsha's Manga Time Kirara Max magazine in December 2017.

Synopsis of Bocchi the Rock!

Hitori "Bocchi" Gotou, lonely and eager to interact with others, spends her time playing guitar. One fateful day, Bocchi meets outgoing drummer Nijika Ijichi, who invites her to join the Kessoku Band when their guitarist, Ikuyo Kita, runs away before their first concert. Soon after, Bocchi meets his latest partner, the great bassist Ryou Yamada.

Although their first performance together is mediocre, the girls are empowered by their shared love of music, and they are soon joined again by Kita. Bocchi and her classmates, who find happiness in acting, put all their efforts into improving as musicians while making the most of their fleeting high school days.
