Tokyo Revengers manga surpasses 7 million copies in circulation
On the official Twitter account for the manga written and illustrated by Ken Wakui, Tokyo Revengers, it was announced that the literary franchise has exceeded seven million accumulated copies in circulation. «It has been decided that the greatest reprint in our history will happen! We have finally passed 7 million copies in print! This is all thanks to all the love and support of our readers! ”The account wrote.
Wakui began publishing the manga in Kodansha publisher's Weekly Shonen Magazine in March 2017. The publisher published the nineteenth compiled volume on September 17, followed by the twentieth on December 17 in Japan.
An anime adaptation produced by LIDEN FILMS Studios, directed by Koichi Hatsumi (Berserk: The Golden Age Arc I - The Egg of the King, Ao no Exorcist: Kyoto Saga, Deadman Wonderland) and scripts written by Yasuyuki Muto (Basilisk , Deadman Wonderland, Sengoku Basara - Samurai Kings), is scheduled to premiere next April.
Tokyo Revengers Synopsis
While watching the news, Takemichi Hanagaki learns that his high school girlfriend, Hinata Tachibana, has died. The only girl who ever noticed him was killed by a group of criminals known as the Tokyo Manji Gang. Takemichi lives in an old apartment with thin walls, and at his job, his boss six years younger than him treats him like trash. To top it off, he's a complete virgin… At the cusp of misery in his life, he suddenly goes back in time twelve years to his high school days. To save Hinata and change the course of time, once useless part-time worker Takemichi must seek to become the leader of Tokyo's darkest criminal gang!
