This first live-action film was released in Japan in September 2019 and featured Hayato Kawai (live-action Ore Monogatari !!, Nisekoi) directing and Yuuichi Tokunaga (Tonde Saitama, Princess Jellyfish) in the scripts. On the other hand, Shou Hirano and Kanna Hashimoto played Miyuki Shirogane and Kaguya Shinomiya, respectively.
Akasaka began publishing the manga in Shueisha publisher's Miracle Jump magazine in May 2015, and moved it to Weekly Young Jump magazine in 2016. The publisher published the 20th compiled volume on November 19 in Japan. The work has entered its "home stretch" according to recent statements by the author.
The work has inspired two anime adaptations released in January 2019 and April 2020, respectively, produced by A-1 Pictures studios. The production of an OVA for the year 2021 and a third season for a date not yet specified are confirmed.
