Through his official Twitter account, author Kenjirou Hata commented that there are only about two hundred pages left for the Tonikaku Kawaii (TONIKAWA: Over the Moon For You) manga. However, it is not clear if he refers to the fact that these pages remain for the conclusion of the work or only for the conclusion of the current arc. It should be noted that the chapters in this serialization are about twenty pages long each.
Hata began publishing the manga through Shogakukan publisher's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine in February 2018. The publisher published the 13th compiled volume in October 2020, followed by the 14th in December 2020 in Japan.
The play inspired a twelve-episode anime adaptation produced by Seven Arcs Pictures Studios, directed by Hiroshi Ikehata and scripts written by Kazuho Hyodo, released in October 2020. Production of an OVA is confirmed.
Tonikaku Kawaii Synopsis
Nasa Yuzaki is determined to leave his name in the history books. Ranking first in the mock national exam and targeting a distinguished preparatory school, he is confident that he has his whole life planned. However, fate is a fickle lover. On the way home one snowy night, Nasa's eyes fall on incomparable beauty across the street. Spellbound, Nasa tries to get close to her, only to be surprised by a truck approaching her. Fortunately, her life is saved due to the girl's quick action. Bleeding beside an ambulance, he watches the girl walk away under the moonlight, reminiscent of Princess Kaguya setting off for the moon. Refusing to let this chance encounter end, he forces her crippled body to chase after her and invites her out of it. Surprised by her recklessness and her sheer resolve, the girl accepts her confession on one condition: they can only be together if he marries her!
