A leak on social media claimed that the "Gotoubun no Hanayome (The Quintessential Quintuplets)" franchise will feature a new anime project that will feature a completely original story overseen by Negi Haruba, author of the franchise.

Although the leak does not reveal additional details, it does indicate that the story will tell the honeymoon of Futaro Uesugi and the protagonists, something that was not seen within the original manga. As for the premiere and production details, they will be revealed at a later date, perhaps on the quintuplets' birthday on May 5.

On the other hand, Negi Haruba published the manga in Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine between August 2017 and February 2020, with a total of fourteen compilation volumes. The work inspired a twelve-episode anime adaptation produced by Tezuka Productions and released in Winter-2019 (January-March), followed by a second season in Winter-2021 (January-March) and a film in May 2022, both produced by Bibury Animation Studios and with which the main story ended.

Later, in September 2023, SHAFT Studios produced an anime project that adapted parts of the original manga that had been omitted from previous projects. This production drew attention for offering a completely different style of drawing and animation than what has been seen before, exceeding fans' expectations.
