A promotional image for the event, made by the manga author Eizouken ni wa Te wo Dasu na !, Sumito Oowara, was posted on the official site for the "2020 New Narita International Airport Animation Festival".
In her post, Oowara commented, "I drew this promotional image with people drawn to a unique method of expression in mind, and who flock to Chitose from diverse backgrounds and origins from all over the world."
The festival was launched in 2014 and focuses on showing animated films from around the world. This year's event will be held at the New Chitose Airport terminal building in Hokkaido Prefecture from November 20-23 this year. The festival will be receiving 2,174 entries from 91 countries and regions in the short film category, and 49 entries from 21 countries in the feature film category, which are the largest numbers in its history.
For his part, Owara began publishing the manga in Shogakukan's Monthly Big Comic Spirits magazine in July 2016, and the publisher published the fifth compiled volume on January 30.
The play inspired a twelve-episode anime adaptation produced by Science SARU studios, directed by Masaaki Yuasa and scripts written by himself in conjunction with Yuuichirou Kido, released in January 2020.
